Author Gail Braccidiferro MacDonald will join us on November 5 from 5:30-7pm at Gilead Congregational Church in Hebron for a discussion about abolitionists of the Northeast. It’s a topic she knows quite a bit about, having conducted significant research for her newly published book, Abolitionists of the Northeast, Black Leaders in the Antislavery Movement.
Abolitionists of the Northeast, published by Globe-Pequot, tells the stories of the courageous, but little-known people from throughout New England and New York during the 18th and 19th centuries who dedicated their lives to fighting to end slavery and improving conditions and opportunities for people of color. Gail is an award-winning journalist, retired University of Connecticut journalism professor, and the author of three books focused on history. She is active in community service in her hometown of New London, and frequently leads history-themed tours for Uncovering New London- One Story at a Time and at the historic Cedar Grove Cemetery.
