Community Conversation on Immigration Justice

Over 75 community members came out on a Tuesday night in Hebron to learn more about the complex and emotional issues surrounding immigration. They learned from four knowledgeable panelists and one young woman who moved to CT with her family as refugees.

The speakers shared information about the rights and contributions of immigrants and how enforcement has changed dramatically in the past year. Attendees learned what nonprofits, law firms, churches, and volunteers are doing to support immigrants.

And Nawal shared her personal story of moving to CT from Syria (via Turkey) and the wonderful support she and her family received from members of the Gilead Congregational Church of Hebron.

This Community Conversation was held at the Russell Mercier Senior Center. CoDE strives to bring people together to learn in a safe, nonjudgmental, respectful environment to learn about and discuss issues affecting our community. We appreciate everyone who joined us with open hearts and minds.
