Looking for a Communications/Marketing Specialist

Are you a freelance communications/marketing specialist! Do you care about social justice and equity?

CoDE is looking to contract with a freelancer to assist with a broad range of communications/marketing projects (publicity, collateral, website updates, newsletter content). This is a part-time, grant-funded position – thanks to the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation.

The Communications/Marketing Specialist will assist the Communications chair with increasing brand awareness, program publicity, online visibility (website/social media), and creation and production of collateral.

This is a part-time contract position, working remotely, for an initial three-month period, with an expectation that it will be renewed for up to two years (with grant funding), and longer if funds are secured.

Responsibilities include:

  • write and design monthly e-newsletter
  • publicize programs and events (write news releases, create flyers, post on website, create Facebook event and post on Facebook and Instagram)
  • design collateral for organization (brochures, business cards, etc.)
  • write and design content for CoDE website (including creating pages and forms)
  • create PowerPoint presentations for programs/meetings
  • track progress toward communications goals

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Adept with using online communications and marketing tools (Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress for website, etc.)
  • Basic design skills (flyers, website, signs, brochures, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to plan ahead and prepare to meet future deadlines
  • Detail-oriented
  • An interest in community-building/social justice, and a desire to be part of an effort to create diverse, equitable and vibrant communities
